Podcasts for Self-Improvement

Podcasts for Self-Improvement

Because life gets so busy, it is great to intentionally set aside time to refocus on your goals and personal progress.  I find that listening to podcasts is one of the most effective ways for me to learn from other people and experts all while continuing to keep up with my schedule.  Whether you are a seasoned-podcast-listener or new to the whole concept, I have put together a few of my favorite podcasts for self-improvement.  If you have heard these ones already, going back to listen might not be a bad idea to see if you can pick up anything new or recognize how you have changed since last listening to it.

Happier with Gretchen Rubin/ A Little Happier

As a writer, Gretchen Rubin has developed her focus on people and their habits.  Along with her sister, Elizabeth Craft, she shares many of her insights, experiences and general queries about how to improve quality of life through the use of positive and effective habit forming.  This team of sisters does an excellent job of taking a step back to examine and reflect, and they are not afraid of sharing their own “gold stars” and “demerits” with you as a listener.  This podcast even has “little” episodes, less than 3 minutes, to respect that sometimes you just don’t have time to listen to an entire podcast.

Little Episode 6/6/2016: Am I painting my own fakes?

Note to Self

Manoush Zomorodi does a wonderful job of questioning all of the ways advances in technology have impacted us.  She specifically helps illustrate what we have gained just as much as what we have lost, specifically in relationships with ourselves and others.  Throughout the series, she has met up with experts of all kinds to delve further into all tech-related topics and how to use the information to our benefit.  Some of the most thought provoking episodes are challenges she has put together for her listeners to gain a better sense of their technology use. The Infomagical Challenge consists of a series of episodes to combat the “information overload” we experience most days and is a great step towards mindful technology use.

Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations

Having created a career of forming relationships with some of the world’s leading experts in just about everything, Oprah takes advantage of this by sitting down with some of them and learning just what it is that makes them successful and continuously working towards their potential.  Guests include a wide range from Brene Brown to Alanis Morisette, even President Jimmy Carter.  My favorite episode is with Deepak Chopra who reviews the most basics of meditation and answers so many questions that people might be afraid to ask about it.
