Tip of the Day! Fight or Flight -by Jean Kadkhodaian

fight or flightDid you know that when your heart rate goes over 100 beats per minute that your brain goes into fight of flight? When we are in fight or flight we can not longer think logically we just respond emotionally. Fight or Flight reduces our ability to process what we hear logically or worse not allow any information in at all. This is why when you are fighting with someone you or they only hear one or 2 key words out of context and become irrational.

Try this: With a second hand clock time your breaths for one minute. If you are breathing between 12 and 15 times in a minute you are stressed. If you are breathing 16+ times in a minute your in fight or flight.

What to do? Now for one minute breath in for a count of 3, hold your breath for a count of 3 and then exhale for a count of 6. Do this for a few minutes and you will improve your ability to communicate as well as boost your immune system.
