Ory Kresl

Ory is a Licensed Professional Counselor that strives to help clients become one’s authentic self through emotional wellness and healthy balance in a supportive and safe environment. She works with her clients to improve their overall quality of life by reducing symptoms and promoting autonomy, balance, acceptance, and self-empowerment.

Ory works primarily with adolescent and young adults, but also has experience working with adults. Depression, anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, trauma, communication, grief, and interpersonal challenges are a few primary issues that her clients present with when beginning treatment. While utilizing a variety of techniques and approaches, she is primarily Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based.

Ory has worked in a variety of mental health settings. She began her journey through interning at a suicide prevention/crisis hotline during her senior year of high school. She completed her Bachelors degree in Psychology at Illinois State University, where she also had interned at a local homeless shelter. After graduating she spent many years working with adolescents in an inpatient setting and then as a crisis worker for a community mental health center. She graduated in 2016 with her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology (Counseling Practice) from Roosevelt University. Since then she has been working in the Adult outpatient program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital. Now Ory has the opportunity to further her knowledge, experience, and continue on her personal journey at The Lighthouse Emotional Wellness Center.

Ory feels it is important to bring forward the experience she has gained in these settings, and apply it to the work she does with her clients. Each person comes to therapy with their own life story, and with that their own journey to recovery. Accomplishing the emotional wellness one wishes to have in their life is the ultimate goal, and Ory looks forward to joining her clients on that journey..
