April is a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes people are inherently resilient, and will thrive when they have the proper support. April uses an eclectic approach including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation. She believes therapy works best when it is a collaborative process, and strives to use mindfulness and accurate empathy in her practice. She recognizes that the work of self exploration can be uncomfortable and difficult, and appreciates her clients for entrusting her with their stories. What April hopes to impart upon all clients is a sense of empowerment and motivation to tackle whatever problems they face.
April earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at Eastern Illinois University, and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at National Louis University. She has experience working with people who struggle with mood disorders, addictions, and assisting people in navigating difficult transitions.
In her free time, April enjoys spending time with her family and pets. Her hobbies include cooking, baking, reading, crocheting, singing, and nail art.
